New Patient Consultations

What to Expect on Your First Visit

We look forward to meeting you on your first visit to our office. Our complimentary consultation includes a state of the art digital x-ray exam, digital photographic imaging of your teeth and a thorough examination by Dr. McNutt.

Our Treatment Coordinator will spend time familiarizing you with our office and the different types of treatments we use to correct orthodontic problems. We will listen carefully to your concerns and expectations.

Our objective is to determine whether:

  • Treatment is needed now.
  • Treatment is not needed at all.
  • Treatment is needed, but should be delayed until appropriate growth and eruption have occurred.

If treatment is needed now we will answer
all of your questions, including:

  • What kind of problem do I have?
  • What are the available treatment options?
  • Which treatment option is best suited for my particular situation?
  • What will be the approximate length of treatment?
  • What type of financial arrangements can be made?
  • When do I start treatment?

New Patient Teen BoyAfter your consultation

After your consultation, Dr. McNutt will write a personal letter to your family dentist detailing the condition of your teeth and the recommendations for treatment.  We pride ourselves on educating our patients and on communicating with your family dentist throughout your orthodontic treatment.

Quite often, at a new patient consultation, Dr. McNutt will identify a potential problem, but recommend against starting orthodontic treatment.   Dr. McNutt can improve most orthodontic problems at any age. However, there is usually an optimal age in terms of the amount of improvement that can be achieved for a given orthodontic problem.

Some problems should be treated at an early age to achieve maximum correction, while other problems are best treated later. This means the optimal age for treatment is different for every patient, so the best time for a consultation is as soon as a possible problem is noticed.

When treatment is needed, Dr. McNutt creates a uniquely tailored plan for each patient designed to create a beautiful smile and to achieve a level of dental health that will enable patients to keep their teeth and mouth healthy for a lifetime.
